Practise tone inside a phrase
Cantonese uses lexical tone. The Linguistic Society of Hong Kong's Jyutping system marks tones with the numbers 1 through 6 after a syllable. Those numbers are pronunciation information, not an optional decoration on a word.
Listen to a short phrase before attempting it. Try it at a comfortable pace, then return to the whole exchange so pronunciation practice remains connected to meaning. Turn recognition into a reply
For heritage learners, choose something familiar enough to understand but difficult enough to answer independently. Describe what happened today or ask a relative about a plan. Change one detail when repeating the task: the person, the time, or the reason. This makes the practice more useful than memorising a single answer.
